The Avengers missed an opportunity to really make their films Global. They should have seen if they could have used Krrish and then maybe Zebraman from Japan and Infrared-Man from Hong Kong. Maybe Asia can put together their own band of Super Heroes to save the planet. With Krrish perhaps they could have beaten Thanos the first time around or if not they would at least have gotten a decent dance number. Krrish is a pretty nifty Super Hero on the spectrum of Super Heroes. Cool black outfit, a broken mask, steely green eyes and a six-pack that verges on being a twelve-pack. This is the third film in the series with another one on its way delayed by covid. In the first one Koi . . .Mil Gaya, Rohit was given special powers from Jadoo, the alien that was left behind. He could jump large distances and had a great deal of strength but mainly was given the power of intelligence. In the second film his son Krishna who becomes Krrish takes those powers and triples them. Now able to jump huge distances and bust through walls. In this one he has somehow managed to multiply those even more - not quite Superman powers - he is not invulnerable - but getting there.

To do that and not be totally ridiculed you really need good special effects and that is where this film excels. Their skills with some help from the outside has leaped ahead as much as Krrish's powers have. They are close to the equal of whatever is coming out of Hollywood. On a budget of $20 million that in Hollywood would have cost 10x that easily. For the most part I admit I hit the wall with Super Hero films a few years ago. The final two Avenger films left me in a state of boredom - Venom and Aquaman made me gag. It is nice getting a break from them. Krrish is kind of different - yes when he does his thing he becomes just another Super Hero video game but this being a Bollywood movie they have not completely deserted their roots - a few musical numbers though much less than normal - but they pile on the melodrama, God and family and it worked for me. I enjoyed this a fair amount and was shocked when I saw the IMDB rating was 5. 5? Could I be that wrong. Probably. But I liked this film. I saw one criticism from a real legit reviewer saying it was good but mainly for children. Huh? Isn't that the definition of Super Hero movies and the comics they are based on? On the child in all of us.

Krrish is back. If you have not seen Krrish 2 and don't want any spoilers about that you should bail now because it is impossible to say much about the plot of this one without spoiling the second one. Ok? Gone? For those who don't care, in the second one Krishna (Hrithik Roshan) gets love suckered into going to Singapore by Priya (Priyanka Chopra) who really just wants to exploit him in order to save her job on a TV news station. He is not yet Krrish. While there he finds out his father Rohit (also Hrithik) who everyone thought dead for 20 years was very much alive but being held by the evil Dr. Arya who had built a computer that could foretell the future. Krishna becomes Krrish, puts on the mask and becomes a super hero and saves dad and vanquishes Dr. Anya. And brings Priya home to India.

In Krrish 3 Rohit - the dad - plays a big role so it is hard to avoid mentioning this. Evil is again afoot in the land. An evil genius Kaal (played by Vivek Oberoi with eyes that lead to nowhere) wants to take over the world. Of course. Don't they all. He is paralyzed in a wheel chair with only the use of two fingers and his mind. He has also created a group of mutants through combining DNA from humans and animals. Sort of a Dr. Moreau combined with Professor Xavier. Kaal was clearly influenced by watching X-Men as one has an enormous powerful tongue while another is a shapeshifter. Since Koi . . . Mil Gaya was stolen from E.T one might conclude that director Roshan only steals from the best. Good for him. Kaal is looking for bone marrow to match his and so going through all of this. Also fun having mutants at your command. Especially Kaya the shapeshifter who has quite the nice shape herself. She is played by Kangana Ranaut and nearly steals the show - or at least the special effects people do. She is in real life a Hindu Nationalist so she won't be on my favorites list any time soon. But she is totally eye candy here. So is Hrithik I should mention not to sound sexist. The shirt comes off a few times.

Next to generate money Kaal creates a virus - that old standby - and unleashes it in Africa - and then sells the antidote. Maybe we need to look into Pfizer says every conspiracy nut in America. He looks at a map and says where next. Mumbai! And that is where Rohit and Krrish enter the story to save the day. Rohit is the brains, Krrish is the brawn and Priya is the sex appeal. Poor Krishna - he can't keep a job because every time he sees someone in need he rushes off to save them and gets fired. But on an average day it is only saving a kid tangled up in wires high above the street or jumping on to a moving plane and bringing down the wheels that were stuck. Basic stuff. Now he has to save the world. And dance.
