An excellent book to introduce people to HK cinema.
The authors show a great enthusiasm for HK cinema - often almost to the
point of gushing at times. They cover in review format nearly all of
the classic films with chapters devoted to John Woo, fighting femmes, Tsui
Hark, the Supernatural, Jackie Chan, Ringo Lam and other subjects.
At times I feel like their reviews give too much
detail on the film's plot, but their enthusiasm is infectious and I have
followed up on a number of these films after reading about them here.
A large number of b/w pictures along with selected
filmography's of many of the stars is included.
