HK Cinema - 1941
The Japanese occupied HK in 1941 and the film
industry went into dormant state for the remainder of the war. As in Shanghai,
the Japanese attempted to utilize the services of the film industry in
order to produce propaganda films, but unlike Shanghai they got very little
cooperation in HK. This proved to be a positive for the HK film industry
after the war because they did not have to through the painful process
of recriminations that occurred in Shanghai.
HK in 1940
Two films from HK that are about this period are
1941 Hong Kong on Fire with Chingmy Yau and Hong Kong 1941 with Chow Yun
Fat.
